Google Antigravity is an AI-assisted development environment created by Google to transform and automate programming. Unlike conventional code assistants, Google Antigravity introduces the concept of autonomous agents capable of collaborating with you in code planning, editing, and maintenance, covering everything from generation and refactoring to automated testing and infrastructure management. This environment is powered by the latest versions of AI models like Gemini and Claude. It's based on Visual Studio Code, but geared towards native artificial intelligence and maximizing automation and productivity.
An intelligent and collaborative environment
Google Antigravity stands out for the interaction between developer and intelligent agents. On the right side of the IDE is the agent interaction area, where you can choose the model you want. These agents can receive instructions in natural language, analyze workflow, execute tasks like a programmer wizard, facilitate error debugging, perform advanced autocompletion, and provide intelligent suggestions in real-time. Thanks to agentic architecture, you can delegate test creation, automated documentation, and complex code refactors, all under your supervision and with total transparency of each step taken. When AI generates content for you, it also generates a list of what you need to do on your part, and you can check off what you're completing bit by bit. For example, if you generate a plugin and need to add additional data, such as an account to access an API, Google Antigravity will guide you through the entire process.
Multiple agents and Mission Control
Google Antigravity allows you to use multiple agents at the same time through Mission Control, its centralized control center. Here, you monitor, manage, and assign tasks simultaneously to different agents. You can request the generation of verifiable artifacts such as lists, execution paths, or detailed reports (referred to as "Artifacts") with each development iteration. This increases traceability, control over your progress, and confidence in the results. Beyond editing, Google Antigravity automates routine tasks, integrating version control, automatic deployments, and infrastructure management.
Multimodal support and image identification
Thanks to the integration of Gemini and multimodal technologies, Google Antigravity can process code, natural language, images (such as app interface images), and API responses, allowing you to describe what you want to achieve, and the AI to translate those ideas into real implementations. The platform features an embedded browser and an interactive terminal, so that agents can inspect, test, and deploy apps working within the same environment, without changing software or leaving the development session.
